NYU Again Receives Record Number of Applications for Admission
In January 2021, New York University again a reported record level of applications for undergraduate admission. This year marks the 14th consecutive year of increases in applications for admission to its top-ranked, wide-ranging programs. NYU announced that it received more than 100,000 applications for undergraduate admissions in 2020, a 20% bump from last year. 6,500 students are expected to enroll in the degree-granting campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, or Shanghai in fall 2021. Diverse applicants helped drive the surge. Out of all the applications, 25% were first-generation college students, 22% were from underrepresented minority groups, and international students (a reported 22% increase). The school also saw an increase in the number of early decision applicants. Early decision applications for Fall 2021 increased 14% compared with Fall 2020.
